Lymphedema is defined as the abnormal accumulation of interstitial fluid resulting from injury, infection, or congenital abnormalities of the lymphatic system. It presents as swelling of the affected limb, aching pain, tight or heavy feeling in the affected limb and trouble moving the affected limb. It happens in some people who have had surgery of lymph nodes or radiation treatment for cancer. 

Lymphedema can also occur due abdominal surgeries, hysterectomies, obesity.
